Look it up.

Welcome To The Next Level

Takes my hypothetical idea of transferring my ‘consciousness’ via all the communications I’ve ever made online, and explores the idea… much deeper.

If you’ve seen the Black Mirror episodes ‘San Junipero,’ think that, coupled with ‘Be Right Back,’ add in some body horror ala ‘The Matrix,’ ‘Ghost In The Machine,’ and add in some serious industrial espionage undertones, and the hubris of what the tech industry will do to be cutting edge. Imagine if Steve Jobs was trying to achieve the same idea I had, but physically transferred, and Tim Cook was willing to do whatever, and I mean whatever was necessary to make that happen.

Has an amazing cast: Daniel Dae Kim, Ron Livingston, Paul Dano, and a number of other voices I recognize.

Seen all of two episodes.

It’s surreal and stupid powerful. This is science fiction at its very, very best.

Edit: there’s a Joyce Carol Oates short story that they appear to be exploring – a kid taken through his life, with no real sense of capability, no intelligent stimulation – just kept in-shape, focusing on health, but zero mental or emotional development.

Then on his 18th birthday, he’s taken out of school, brought to a surgical theater. He doesn’t understand what’s happening.

Then an old man is rolled into the same surgical theater.

You realize in the last moment the kid was simply grown to be the new, stronger body of the old man, and the kid was just the next vessel to be transplanted into, his brain to be discarded.

I think they’re suggesting this is coming in one of the plot lines, or a variance thereof.
