AutoZone and O’Reilly’s are capitalism and competition at its purest

Need a new headlight.
$159 for a single headlight.
Check AutoZone. $159 on the website. O’Reilly’s. $139. They also have a $25 off Father’ Day promotion if you have it shipped to your house. I check stock. O’Reilly’s has it in-stock at the shop.
Drive up. Ask for the part number. It’s pulled from the back.
“Will you honor this coupon’s pricing?”
“Nope; you’ll need to order that online.”
“Cool.”
Drive across the street to AutoZone.
“Will you price-match the coupon?”
“Sure can.”
Took me longer to write this up in the parking lot than to get it done. AutoZone list price: $159.99. Purchase price: $109.99.
This is how capitalism is supposed to work.
